Comments on Emerging Projects and Initiatives Sought

One of the strategic initiatives within our Strategic Framework is to update our Campus Facilities Master Plan.   Work on this update began in February  2011, has involved faculty, students, staff, board members, task forces, city representatives and our campus neighbors.  We are at the point in the process where our campus master plan working group, informed by the work of our consultants, Art Lidsky and George Mathey of Dober,Lidsky,Mathey, has compiled a list of potential campus planning projects and initiatives and seeks feedback from the campus community on the list.  An earlier, very similar, version of the list was reviewed by students, faculty, and staff in campus meetings held September 15-16, 2011.  The members of the “Big 5” faculty committees also reviewed the list at their fall 2011 retreat.

What do we want to know?

We’re not seeking “votes” or “rankings” on the individual projects.  Rather, we want to know how much impact each project or initiative will have on each of the following criteria:

  • The project/initiative  will advance our mission
  • The project/initiative will improve the quality of campus life
  • The project/initiative will improve our market position
  • The project/initiative will fix what is tired or broken

How do I provide feedback?

First, review the information in this website.  The “objectives & findings,”  what we set out to do and the abridged version of literally hundreds of pages of analyses, notes, reports, survey findings, benchmark metrics, are what informed the ideas for projects and initiatives.   The “projects & initiatives” are the items currently on the list.

President Cornwell has asked us to compile the feedback from the workshops, meetings, comment posts, and e-mails and provide the summary to the Working Group and Art Lidsky by February 6th so that the feedback informs the update that the Board will receive at its March meeting.

Our thanks for your continued interest and engagement in our strategic planning efforts,

John Sell & Ellen Falduto
